Robotic Grinding
DEPRAG Robotic Grinding – higher productivity, lower costs, consistent quality
Manual grinding is physically demanding, harmful to health, and increasingly difficult to staff with qualified operators. The solution is DEPRAG automated robotic grinding, which eliminates health risks, delivers consistent surface quality, and enables real-time feedback as well as process parameter adjustment. The results: lower production costs, minimal error rates, and significantly higher productivity.
Our systems are compatible with all major industrial robot brands, including KUKA, Fanuc, ABB, and Yaskawa.
DEPRAG solutions: DGS and DAS
DGS – DEPRAG Grinding System
Adaptive robotic spindles with a robust design and power range of 700–2800 W, proven in continuous operation. Thanks to the floating spindle technology, they ensure optimal grinding of weld seams, parting lines, risers, and large surfaces at constant contact force. Flexible tool clamping (thread or collet) and customer-specific configurations guarantee versatile use across a wide range of applications.
DAS – DEPRAG Adaptive System
A patented adaptive flange that allows the mounting of virtually any tool onto an industrial robot or stationary application. With maximum flexibility in tool selection, DAS is also ideal for complex geometries.
Both DGS and DAS compensate for gravity and acceleration forces, increasing precision and extending tool life.
Typical Applications
Our robotic grinding and polishing components are used in automotive, foundry, and plastics industries, including:
- Weld seam finishing
- Grinding of risers, deburring of edges, and parting lines of castings
- Polishing of large plastic, metal, and composite surfaces
- Precision measurement with incremental probe systems
Concrete Time Savings
- Grinding a tram chassis casting made of high-magnesium cast iron: reduced from 8 hours to 2 hours
- Grinding a cast-iron T-piece: reduced from 4 hours to 30 minutes
- Grinding automotive door beams: return on investment in just 3 months
Added Value for Operators
Operators no longer need to perform physically exhausting and monotonous tasks. Robotic grinding relieves them of this burden and enables them to focus on specialized finishing operations with higher added value.
